Live in the Lounge at Armidale’s Red Grapevine Restaurant and Bar

Brisbane-based touring musicians Alan Boyle and Francesca de Valence are looking forward to braving the cooler climate of NSW this August, when they play Live in the Lounge at Armidale’s Red Grapevine Restaurant and Bar.
The promise of an open fire and a warming glass of red is an invitation impossible to refuse, especially for Irishman Alan Boyle. “Singing by the fire on a cold winter’s night is a time-honoured tradition where I come from,” he jokes, “but this will be the first opportunity for me in sunny Australia.”
Alan has performed on stages all over Ireland, Italy and Australia, supporting some of Australia’s best loved performers such as Wendy Matthews, Ian Moss, Dragon and Ben Salter of the Gin Club.
His second EP “OXYGEN” was recorded in Brisbane last year and has had tracks respectively nominated for a QSong Award and short listed in the Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition. Alan was also selected as the 2009 recipient of the Billy Thorpe Scholarship Award, as chosen by Arts QLD and the Thorpe family.
“Alan Boyle is a rare talent; a gifted songwriter and singer and entertainer. This EP Oxygen is a fine example of his raw energy, charisma and undoubted potential.” - Dan Rennie (Broadcaster 98.9fm)
“The songs on Oxygen are written with great attention to detail and are well orchestrated with violin and trumpet adding texture to duelling guitars and a subtle rhythm section. Boyle’s voice is the standout element on the EP, and acts as a pivot around which all other facets move, and it truly is captivating.” - RAVE Magazine
Francesca de Valence is a rising star of the Australian music scene. Having begun as a classically trained musician, she then received a degree in Jazz from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and went on to perform with the likes of Michael Buble and Keith Urban. In 2008, Francesca received a Los Angeles Music Award for International Songwriter of the Year for her debut EP “From The Outside In”.
In February 2010 she released “Something New”, the first single and music video from the “Oh it’s Simple” EP. Since then it has snapped up a semi-finalist gong in the International Songwriting Competition, a finalist in the MusicOz Awards, the Australian National Songwriting Competition, and a 2010 QSong Finalist nomination. She has recently returned home to Australia from her third solo tour to the States. www.francescadevalence.com
