Local favourites return to The Armidale Club

This week The Armidale Club has some local favorites coming back to treat us once again.
On Friday night we have Stormy Weather giving us what is surely going to be another great themed set: UnRolling the Stones. At their last Armidale Club gig local band ‘Stormy Weather’ unleashed a feature set of Bob Dylan that had the crowd dancing
and singing along. On Friday, June 25 Stormy Weather will ‘unroll the Stones’. A feature set of fantastic Rolling Stones numbers from ‘Get Off My Cloud’ to ‘Dead Flowerers’. Always delivering a quality performance, Stormy Weather play crowd pleasing music, whether you just want to listen or get up and boogie. Their firm roots in classic soul, blues and R&B means everyone has a good time.
‘Stormy Weather’ are: Ayjay Bennett - vocals; Michael Houlahan - bass and vocal; Steve Leece - drums and vocal; Darren Shepherd - lead guitar and vocals; Garry Warfield - rhythm guitar and vocals; and Bruce Walker - keyboards and vocals.
This Saturday the immensely talented Unevensteven will be back by popular demand! If you missed the “Three Steves” concert earlier in April then you have the opportunity to hear them again at The Armidale Club, June 26. At their last performance it was difficult to tell who was having the most fun – the audience or the guitarists. Come and hear a fabulous feast of music written for the acoustic guitar as well as a few surprises thrown in to
the program. You will hear solos, duets
and trios performed by these three
amazing guitarists.
Both concerts will begin at 8pm. $5 tickets sold at the door.
Next week we have the second GLBT Queer Cinema night, starting from 6:30pm on Wednesday, June 30 with a $5 cover charge; it will be another great night. This month the showcase movie is Butch Jamie. Winning multiple awards at festivals around the world, this is one film not to be missed. Check out www.queerarmidale.com for more details.
Be sure to check Steve Charles out on Thursday. July 3 when he will be making his first appearance at the Club. Steve is an Independent Australian recording and touring artist, Music Oz top 10 finalist (Outback Reggae), ISC song of the Year (Houston Texas) heat finalist (Angels will carry me home), Full writer member of APRA and is published by Aussie Independent Music (AUS) and Pegasus Music (NZ, Ireland, Europe and USA) and is based in Tamworth NSW. Steve is a versatile performer who covers many styles of music from Pop, Dance, Rock, Reggae, Blues and Roots, Jazz, Ethnic and Easy Listening and also writes and produces sound tracks and jingles. Steve is currently returning to his Dance and Club roots with his latest single “Let’s Go!”
Friday, July 1 will have Aftershock and Fresh Nelson ripping up the stage and showcasing what new talent is on the horizon from these two local youth bands. Fresh Nelson (formerly known as Unit 15) have previously played The Armidale Club to packed crowds. This time around they are bringing along Aftershock.
On Saturday, July 2 the first all-ages PsyNight will be on, with a bunch of great DJs lined up. Everyone should have a great time. Please remember that all under 18s will need to be accompanied by an adult throughout the night.
