Plans are underway for Armidale Pipe Band to take their place in the Sydney ANZAC Day March this year. This a first for the band and a highlight for its members.

“The RSL has approached us for a few years now enquiring about our availability for the ANZAC Day March in Sydney. We have always wanted to support our community but thought that this year the privilege of representing the Armidale community and remembering the troops that died for our country in Sydney was a huge honour”. said Pipe Major Tim McLaren.
Pipers and drummers are practicing twice weekly for a series of events which include the local Autumn Festival, the Maclean Highland Gathering and the ANZAC Day parade.
“This will be a memorable event for the players and ghillies” commented Mike Creagan, Drum major of the Band, “and since we are hiring a bus, there will be room for 16 extra people from the Armidale community”.

Armidale Pipe Band has a long history of not only supporting many local events such as the recent Australia Day celebration, but also celebrations and festivals such as Grafton’s Jacaranda Festival, Inverell’s Sapphire Festival, Stanthorpe’s Apple
and Grape Festival and many highland gatherings.
Some of the big events in
recent years have been partici-pation in the Celtic Crossroads Tattoo in Canberra in 2002 and the Federation Tattoo in Ballarat in 2004. The Sydney ANZAC Day parade will add to this list of highlights.
The Band will wear full dress with plaids and crossbelts, with their traditional Seaforth  Mackenzie tartan kilts.
