Motorcycle Club season opens

Over twenty riders gath-ered at “Bannaweera”, west of Uralla, to commence their 2010 riding season with coaching delivered by Mark Peacock, a former national and international Australian representative enduro rider.
In keeping with its commitment to provide riders with quality coaching, the Armidale Motorcycle Club hosted Mark, and his team, to provide club members with a two day clinic to improve their skills for the 2010 racing season.
Contrary to most young riders focus on more speed, Mark spent the majority of time on slow speed drills to hone the fundamental skills required by all good riders – throttle, cutch and brake control – which when mastered, speed follows quickly. Participants rated the two day school a resounding success.
Following the Peacock coaching weekend, Club coach Lee Marshall took over twenty new junior riders through their Kick Start introductory coaching to enable them to participate in club rides throughout the year. With such interest from new riders, 2010 looks like being another strong year.
Junior riders wishing to commence riding should contact Lee Marshall on 6772 9551 for the next introductory opportunity.
The Armidale Motorcycle Club grate-fully acknowledges the generosity of the Press Family for hosting the riders on their property “Bannaweera”.
The Club 2010 race calendar commences this weekend, Sunday 7th, with the first round of the Grass Track Series, at “Tumble Downs”, Walcha, sponsored by the West End Store. The “Tumble Downs” ride proved a great success in 2009 with over 100 riders at each round. The natural terrain track provides challenging conditions for experienced riders but is also a great introductory ride for newcomers.
The generosity of the Mackaway Family is greatly appreciated by the Armidale Motorcycle Club members for access to their property and the excellent track provided at “Tumble Downs”.
