St Mary’s Primary School starts with a Splash!

swimming kids

St Mary’s Primary School held its annual Swimming Carnival on Friday, February. 5

We wish to thank all parents who assisted with jobs at the carnival, which could never have run so smoothly without your help.
The Primary children competed in the regular 50 metre events, 25 metre events and across the pool events.  Congratulations to all children who swam so well in these events.
Congratulations to our champions for 2010:
Junior Boy – Jackson Gwynne, Junior Boy Runner-up – Lachlan Fittler/Tim Finlayson,
11 Year Boy Champion  - Peter Dignam, 11 Year Boy Runner-up – Lachlan Keogh,
Senior Boy Champion – Daniel Cherry, Senior Boy Runner-up – Sam Finlayson.
Junior Girl – Tahlia Stuart, Junior Girl Runner-up – Maya Hulse,
11 Year Girl Champion – Eliza Clark, 11 Year Girl Runner-up – Matilda Scott,
Senior Girl Champion Sarah Howland and Senior Girl Runner-up – Brooke Kingdom
Our Infants classes arrived  at 11.30am and supported some of the 50 metre events by cheering and clapping.  This was an exciting experience for our new Kindergarten children.
The Infants children then competed in some swimming events of their own and a great time was had by all.
It was the largest number of 50 metre swimmers to compete at a St Mary’s Swimming Carnival and, as a result, we sent the largest ever St Mary’s Swim Squad of 29 children to Inverell to  compete at the Diocesan Carnival on February 18. Well done and congratulations to the children who qualified to attend the Diocesan Carnival.
On behalf of the St Mary’s Staff and Parents, we would like to thank Mr Stephen Gollan and the staff at the Armidale Aquatic Centre for their dedicated and generous assistance throughout the day.
